ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the measurement invariance and the score distribution characters of the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and to test its feasibility in comparing depression among adolescents of different sexes and ages. MethodsFrom September 2018 to May 2019, 12 241 adolescents aged 10 to 19 years old across 22 primary and secondary schools in Hangzhou were included based on cluster sampling method, and they were investigated by PHQ-9. The measurement invariance was tested by multi-group confirmatory factor analysis. Poisson regression analysis and Logistic regression analysis were adopted to explore the score distribution of PHQ-9 by sex and age. ResultsThe configural, metric, scalar and strict invariances (χ2=2 492.527, df=79, P<0.01, RMSEA=0.071, SRMR=0.031, CFI=0.942, TLI=0.947, ΔCFI=0.004, ΔTLI=0.002 compared with the scalar model) of PHQ-9 across sex were all acceptable, and the configural, metric and scalar invariances (χ2=3 311.991, df=414, P<0.01, RMSEA=0.076, SRMR=0.055, CFI=0.928, TLI=0.937, ΔCFI=0.010, ΔTLI=0.002 compared with the metric model) across age were acceptable. The detection rate of mild depressive symptoms in girls was higher than that in boys (52.99% vs. 46.65%, χ2=48.344, P<0.01). The PHQ-9 total scores of girls aged 13 to 17 were higher than those of boys (D=0.092~0.144, P<0.01). There was an interaction between sex and age (χ2=32.800, df=1, P<0.01, OR=0.895). Except low self-evaluation and suicide or self-injury, the detection rate of assessed symptom on each item of girls was higher than that of boys (P<0.05). ConclusionIt is discovered that PHQ-9 has measurement equivalence across sex and age in adolescents, and girls and older adolescents scored higher in PHQ-9.

ABSTRACT

Objective To predict the potential suitable habitat of Haemaphysalis concinna in Heilongjiang Province under different climatic scenarios. Methods The geographic locations of ticks in Heilongjiang Province from 1980 to 2022 were captured from literature review and field ticks monitoring data from Harbin Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Heilongjiang Province, and the tick distribution sites with spatial correlations were removed using the software ArcGIS 10.2. The environment data under historical climatic scenarios from 1970 to 2000 and the climatic shared socioeconomic pathways (SSP) 126 scenario model from 2021 to 2040 and from 2041 to 2060 were downloaded from the WorldClim website, and the elevation (1 km, 2010), population (1 km grid population dataset of China, 2010) and annual vegetation index (1 km, 2010) data were downloaded from the Resource and Environmental Science and Data Center, Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The contribution of environmental factors to H. concinna distribution was evaluated and environmental variables were screened using the software MaxEnt 3.4.1 and R package 4.1.0, and the areas of suitable habitats of H. concinna and changes in center of gravity were analyzed using the maximum entropy model in Heilongjiang Province under different climatic scenarios. In addition, the accuracy of the maximum entropy model for prediction of H. concinna distribution was assessed using the area under curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve. Results A total of 79 H. concinna distribution sites and 24 environmental variables were collected, and 70 H. concinna distribution sites and 9 environmental factors that contributed to distribution of the potential suitable habitats of H. concinna in Heilongjiang Province were screened. The three most significant contributing factors included precipitation seasonality, annual precipitation, and mean temperature of the driest quarter, with cumulative contributions of 60.7%. The total area of suitable habitats of H. concinna was 29.05 × 104 km2 in Heilongjiang Province under historical climatic scenarios, with the center of gravity of suitable habitats located at (47.31° N, 129.16° E), while the total area of suitable habitats of H. concinna reduced by 0.97 × 104 km2 in Heilongjiang Province under the climatic SSP126 scenario from 2041 to 2060, with the center of gravity shifting to (47.70° N, 129.28° E). Conclusions The distribution of suitable habitats of H. concinna strongly correlates with temperature and humidity in Heilongjiang Province. The total area of potential suitable habitats of H. concinna may appear a tendency towards a decline with climatic changes in Heilongjiang Province, and high-, medium- and low-suitable habitats may shift.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of psychological strengths on life satisfaction among university students, and to analyze the mediating roles of general self-efficacy and coping style. MethodsA random sample of 913 undergraduates and postgraduates from a university in Zhejiang were enrolled, and completed an online questionnaire including Strengths Knowledge and Strength Use Scale (SKSUS), Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Then the mediating effect analysis was conducted using Bootstrapping method. Results① Strength knowledge, strength use, task-oriented coping style and GSES scores were positively correlated with SWLS score (r=0.390, 0.522, 0.345, 0.500, P<0.01). ② Strength use, task-oriented coping style and general self-efficacy acted as mediators between strength knowledge and life satisfaction (the indirect effect was 0.387, accounting for 96.03% of the total effect). ③ Emotion-oriented coping style acted as mediator between strength knowledge, strength use and life satisfaction (the indirect effect was 0.011, accounting for 2.73% of the total effect). ConclusionStrength knowledge may affect life satisfaction of college students through the mediating effects of strength use, task-oriented coping style, emotion-oriented coping style and general self-efficacy.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To establish a risk prediction model of acute myocardial infarction(AMI)in elderly patients with hyperuricemia(HUA).Methods:A total of 148 elderly patients with HUA in Shanghai Fourth People's Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University for prospective study from March 2020 to March 2021 were divided into AMI group and non-AMI group according to whether they were complicated with AMI.The baseline data of patients were recorded at admission and compared between the two groups.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to examine the risk factors for AMI in elderly patients with HUA.And AMI risk prediction model was established.The ROC curves were plotted.Using the ROC curve, the prediction efficiency of AMI risk prediction model was evaluated.Results:Among 148 elderly patients with HUA, 22 cases(14.86%)had AMI.The proportion of smoking history in AMI group was higher than non-group( χ2=6.192, P=0.013). The diastolic blood pressure, systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose(FPG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), serum uric acid(SUA)and homocysteine(Hcy)were statistically significantly higher in AMI group than in non-AMI group( U=1.973, 2.652, 2.016, 1.364, 2.151, 2.973, 5.972, P=0.049, 0.008, 0.044, 0.032, 0.003, <0.001). The multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that smoking history, high DBP, high SBP, high FPG, high LDL-C, high SUA and high Hcy were risk factors for AMI in elderly HUA patients( OR=3.120, 1.072, 1.887, 2.358, 3.365, 1.031, 3.773, P=0.016, 0.001, <0.001, 0.008, 0.028, 0.001, <0.001). By substituting the risk factor index and the regression coefficient into the Logistic regression equation formula, the obtained final fitting equation was: AMI=1.138×smoking history(no=0, yes=1)+ 0.070×DBP+ 0.635×SBP+ 0.858×FPG+ 1.213×low density lipoprotein+ 0.030×SUA+ 1.328×Hcy.The ROC curve was drawn and showed that the AUC of forecast value of AMI risk prediction model in predicting the risk of AMI in elderly HUA patients was 0.847, >0.80, which had certain predictive value.Hosmer-Leme show goodness of fit test χ2=5.743, P=0.676, P>0.05, the model had good correction ability and satisfactory fitting. Conclusions:AMI in elderly hyperuricemia patients are affected by multiple risk factors.The AMI risk prediction model is established via combining with multiple risk factors.The model has certain efficiency in predicting the occurrence of AMI in elderly patients with hyperuricemia.

ABSTRACT

Coactosin-like protein 1 (Cotl1), a member of the actin-depolymerizing factor (ADF)/cofilin family, was first purified from a soluble fraction of Dictyostelium discoideum cells. Neuronal migration requires cytoskeletal remodeling and actin regulation. Although Cotl1 strongly binds to F-actin, the role of Cotl1 in neuronal migration remains undescribed. In this study, we revealed that Cotl1 overexpression impaired migration of both early- and late-born neurons during mouse corticogenesis. Moreover, Cotl1 overexpression delayed, rather than blocked, neuronal migration in late-born neurons. Cotl1 expression disturbed the morphology of migrating neurons, lengthening the leading processes. This study is the first to investigate the function of Cotl1, and the results indicate that Cotl1 is involved in the regulation of neuronal migration and morphogenesis.

Objective To investigate possible association between the incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)and ABO blood type.Methods pathologically confirmed NPC patients(NPC group) with a serologically determined blood group in Sun Yatsen University Cancer Center were reviewed retrospectively.The distribution of blood groups of the NPC group were compared with the distribution of blood groups of healthy donors(control group) admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou TCM University in the year 2013.Results There was no significant difference between NPC group and the control group in terms of distribution of ABO blood groups(P=0.884),neither with NPC stages(P=0.506).Conclusion In this study,we found that blood type has no association with an increased risk of NPC and NPC stages in a population of Southern China.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the influence of acrylamide ( ACR) on adult neurogenesis and expression of GSK 3βin mouse.Methods:Method Adult male Kunming mice were used and divided into two groups:control group and experimental poisoning groups,that were exposured to acrylamide by intraperitoneal injection.Brdu labeling and immunohistochemistry were used to investigate the proliferation of adult neural stem cells in the subgranular zone ( SGZ).BrdU/NeuN/GFAP triple labeling to investigate the survival and differentiation of newly generated cells.Detecting GSK3βexpression and distribution in Neuro-2a cells,the expression of GSK3βwas examined by using Western blot.Results:Compared with control mice ,lower number of BrdU-positive cells and less differentiated into neurons in ACR mice.Less neural stem cells survived ,but more glia cells were generated in the subgranular zone of acrylamide mice.Moreover,higher phosphorylated GSK 3β( Ser9 ) were detected in Neuro-2a cells and mouse dentate gyrus in ACR mice respectively .Conclusion:These results suggested that acrylamide inhibits neural stem cells proliferation and influences the survival and differentiation of newly generated cells.Acrylamide inhibits neurogenesis maybe through GSK 3βsignaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

Molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of Fyn on cell morphology, pseudopodium movement, and cell migration were investigated. The Fyn gene was subcloned into pEGFP-N1 to produce pEGFP-N1-Fyn. Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells were transfected with pEGFP-N1-Fyn. The expression of Fyn mRNA and proteins was monitored by reverse transcription-PCR and Western blotting. Additionally, transfected cells were stained with 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole and a series of time-lapse images was taken. Sequences of the recombinant plasmids pMD18-T-Fyn and pEGFP-N1-Fyn were confirmed by sequence identification using National Center for Biotechnology Information in USA, and Fyn expression was detected by RT-PCR and Western blotting. The morphology of CHO cells transfected with the recombinant vector was significantly altered. Fyn expression induced filopodia and lamellipodia formation. Based on these results, we concluded that overexpression of mouse Fyn induces the formation of filopodia and lamellipodia in CHO cells, and promotes cell movement.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the expression of visfatin mRNA in abdominal omental adipose tissue and its relationship with blood lipid in type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods 161 type 2 diabetic patients were divided into two groups according to triglyceride ( TG ),high triglyceride group ( TG ≥ 1.7mmol/L) and normal triglyceride group(TG < 1.7 mmol/L).The expression of visfatin mRNA in abdominal omental adipose tissue was measured with Northern Blot.Visfatin plasma concentration,fasting plasma glucose (FPG),blood lipid profiles and other biochemical indicators were also measured.Results Comparing with normal triglyceride group,the diabetic patients in high triglyceride group had significantly increased levels of visfatin plasma concentration [ ( 129.07 ± 21.35)ng/mL vs ( 101.65 ± 15.23 ) ng/mL,t =2.295,P <0.05]and mRNA expression in omental adipose tissue( P <0.05).Visfatin plasma concentration was positively correlated with TG( β =0.592,P <0.05 ) and FPG( β =0.763,P <0.01 ).Visfatin mRNA expression in omental adipose tissue had no correlation with FPG,TG and other biochemical indicators.Conclusions The plasma visfatin level in T2DM patients may be associated with triglyceride metabolism.

ABSTRACT

The aims of this research were to isolate a Aspergillus niger strain with higher beta-glucosidase activity. We utilized the beta-glucosidase producing strain Aspergillus niger CGMCC 3.316 as the original strain to first obtain a mutant 3-3M through ultraviolet irradiation. Then we studied the conditions of protoplast release and regeneration for strain 3-3M. We treated the protoplasts of strain 3-3M via ultraviolet irradiation and obtained another isolated mutant 60B-3D. The strain 60B-3D showed much higher beta-glucosidase production than the original strain and 3-3M strain. The beta-glucosidase activity of strain 60B-3D was 23.4 IU/mL, with an improvement of 39% compared with the original strain, and 23% compared with strain 3-3M. We also studied the fermentation process of strain 60B-3D, and compared it with the original strain and strain 3-3M. We found the strain 60B-3D exhibited an improvement in xylanase production. The comparison results also showed that the strain 60B-3D secreted more protein. These results were beneficial for producing beta-glucosidase through this productive mutant.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#To investigate the effet of nasal septum operation combined with nasal sinuses on postoperative nasal septum.@*METHOD@#Sixty-five patients with deflection of nasal septum complicating chronic sinusitis were underwent nasal septum and nasal sinus operations under nasal endoscope. Postoperative nasal septum recover were observed and compared with patients underwent only simple nasal septum operation.@*RESULT@#Patients underwent nasal septum operations combined with nasal sinus, postoperative symptoms were more serious at early than simple nasal septum operations. At 3 months after operation, satisfactory degree of the former group were higher than the latter, and the former group didn't have complications such as nasal septum infection.@*CONCLUSION@#Nasal septum operations combined with nasal sinus have no harmful effect on the prognosis of nasal septum, so it was safe and reliable.

The concept of Industrial Biosystems Engineering (IBsE) was suggested as a new engineering branch to be developed for meeting the needs for science, technology and professionals by the upcoming bioeconomy. With emphasis on systems, IBsE builds upon the interfaces between systems biology, bioprocessing, and systems engineering. This paper discussed the background, the suggested definition, the theoretical framework and methodologies of this new discipline as well as its challenges and future development.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical and biochemical characteristics of type 2 diabetics with hyperuricemia and to investi-gate the association between serum uric acid and the number of metabolic syndrome components. Method In the cross-sectional study of 547 type 2 diabetics, we recorded body mass index (BMI), systolic blood pressure(SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and collected blood samples to measure serum uric acid (UA), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc), creatinine (Cr) and blood lipid profile, including tfiglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density cholesterol LDL-C) and high-density cholesterol (HDL-C). Results Compared with the normal UA group, the diabetic patients in the high UA group had significantly increased levels of BMI, SBP, DBP, FPG, Cr, TG, TC and HbA1c (P <0.05, P <0.01, P <0.05, P <0.01, P <0.01), and decreased level of HDL-C(P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the level of LDL-C between the two groups (P > 0.05). According to their possession of 1, 2, 3 or 4 components of metabolic syndrome, 547 cases were divided into four groups (MSI, MS2,MS3 and MS4). There were significant difference in the levels of UA, BMI, SBP, DBP, Cr, TG, TC, LDL-C and HDL-C among MSI, MS2, MS3 and MS4 (All P < 0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that UA concentration was positively correlated with sex, TG and Cr (Beta:0. 088,0. 350, 0. 124; P < 0.05, P <0.01, P <0.01) and negatively correlated with HDL-C and HbA1 c(Beta: -0.107, -0.124 ; P <0.01, P <0.01). The con-centration of UA was strongly correlated with serum TG. Conclusions Serum UA level in type 2 diabetics was significantly elevated as the number of metabolic components increased. Abnormal TG had great influence on serum UA. Hyperuricemia was considered to be a dangerous factor of the metabolic syndrome.

OBJECTIVE@#To study the safety and feasibility after functional Endoscopic surgery(FESS), without no nasal packing in 74 patients,compare these patients with 20 packing patients, and discuss the possibility and indication of avoiding packing.@*METHOD@#No nasal packing after FESS in 74 patients, the measures had been taken to reduce postoperative bleeding including appropriate case-chosen, medical administration before and after operation, alleviation of trauma in operation, and meticulous sinus clearance to prevent synechia.@*RESULT@#The postoperative blood loss were less than 50 ml. No bleeding complication happened out of the 74 no-packing patients, the blood exudation ceased timely after FESS.@*CONCLUSION@#The nasal packing could be avoided in the majority of FESS through proper management. This choice will reduce the discomfort and the cost of the patients who have to receive FESS procedure, and increase their compliance.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the CT specialities of small lung cancer with the thin-section scan images by general CT machine.Methods Through the 3 mm-scan means in breathless condition,CT specialities of 36 cases of little lung carcinoma were analysed,which were scanned with CT before operation and proved by pathology.Results CT specialities of peripheral small lung cancer had lobular sign(91.6%);coarse spicules sign(77.8%);bubble-like lucency sign(50%);pleural retraction sign(88.9%);honeycomb sign(11.1%);cavity(2.7%);convergence sign of pulmonary vessels(66.7%),the radiative shadiness of pathological pleural side(11.1%).Conclusion The CT specialities are divided into prime and subaltern specialities in the diagnosis of peripheral small lung carinoma.The prime specialities have lobular sign,edge coarse spicules sign,bubble-like lucency sign,pleural retraction sign,convergence sign of pulmonary vessels,and the CT specialities are not agreeable with the small lung carcinoma of different tissue types.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study and to optimize culture conditions of islet-like cells induced in vitro from fetus bone marrow(BM) mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs).Methods BM was obtained from miscarried human fetus.The MSCs between three to eight passages were used to differentiate into islet-like clusters-through three stages of culture supplemented with 2mercaptoethanol,epidermal growth factor(EGF),basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF),B_(27) and nicotinamide.Results The 2nd stage cells expressed nestin and/or panceatic and duod-enal homeobox 1(PDX-1),and the 3rd stage cells formed islet-like clusters expressing insulin and glucagon together with positive dithizone staining.Specific insulin secretion could be detected(81.3?23.6?u /ml) from differentiated MSCs which have the capacity to respond to different glucose concentrations.Conclusion Fetal bone marrow MSCs can be differentiated into pancreatic islet-like clusters,and 20mmol/L nicotinamide could be the optimal concentration in culture.

Objective To investigate the mechanism,clinical features of severe skin infection developed in the rehabilitation of the elderly diabetic patients and the commonly seen bacterium.Methods The causes of skin injury,the places of infection and bacterium were analyzed retrospectively.Meanwhile,chemical indicators on admission were analyzed.Results Skin injury was caused by the improper family care and the lake of self protection knowledge.The common places for infection were feet and then back and hip skin.Almost all the infections were caused by opportunists,among which staphylococcus was the most common one.The major separated risk factors were hypoalbuminemia,hyperglycemia,and high level fibrinogen and anemia.Conclusion The elderly diabetic patients are subject to skin infection.Diabetic education and careful nursing are the key to the prevention of severe skin infection.
